I've missed the group! I'm just starting to return to normal after a

bout of flu/sinusitis that's going on about 2 weeks and thought I'd

attempt a little time online :)

This is my first illness since being veg*n and, it was very weird, but

I was at a loss as to what to eat while sick. First of all, I needed

something quick because I had next to no energy, and since we don't

eat processed food most of the time, I had nothing in the house.

Nothing containing veggies sounded good at all... nothing requiring

chewing due to the pain in my head from the sinus infection. What do

you all eat when you are ill?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and be safe out there

tonight!! Looking forward to a year full of great stories and recipes

from the group! :)

I caught cold the day after Thanksgiving and just this last week began to feel

like it was mostly gone...it kept coming back. I ate soup, soup, soup. I love

soup anyway, but it was the only thing that seemed to help, opening up my nose,

head, sinuses (I had the sinus thing going too). I just didn't feel like solid

food. I cooked up veggies in a broth, either veggie or not-chicken broth with

onions and garlic and then dumped it into the blender, added soy milk and Earth

Balance (I am vegan). And ate on that treat for the day and cooked up more as I

needed too. I had left over veggies in the fridge from Thanksgiving which would

have gone bad so that is how I started. I did it with beans too, all sorts. I

also took about 3 - 4 grams (4000 mg) of vit C a day (the ester C to avoid

heartburn) and a homeopathic remedy called Sinusalia by Boiron for the Sinus

thing. But even given all of that it still went on and on and on. I will say

though that the first days were terrible until I started this regime and then

felt better. There are just a ton of people here in town with this stuff and the

average length of time appears to be three weeks. Take care of yourself though

and stay warm. Hope this continues to find you on your way to feeling better. It

took me a while to get energy back too.

HI Shelly,

Hope you are feeling better.

You could eat vegetable soup, or maybe some miso soup. Pancakes of some

kind don't take much chewing.

Of course these things need some preparing.
