Guest guest
Yes, it was the one with the moss. But it turned out that was the least of the problem. The house had been jacked up and raised with blocks put under it, but they forgot to put a brace in to keep the blocks in place and so it was slipping on one side...the house inspector didn't catch it because he couldn't get under the kitchen. But we found a company that would go under to check for problems and that is what they found. The inspector wanted the crawl space to be enlarged as the house is old with some places only being 6-8 inches. Cost of $12,000. We could get around that but not the house falling off the blocks...that cost with the other things needing to be done under the house was $7,000 and the owners would not negotiate it, they wanted to do it themselves. Well, since they created the problems under the house we weren't keen on that. So terminated the deal, got our escrow back today, found a sales agent that will represent us and off and running again. However, seems that one of our party is not hot on looking again. Never rain but it pours in western Oregon. Thanks to your articles though I won't worry about moss build up and toxins since I now know how to deal with it. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
