Soy candles

So there are soy candles? Totally vegan? I gave up my candles when I became

vegan and can't use the beeswax candles either of course, so I have just lived

without candles since that is all I see around here, but maybe I can find these

some where. Is there a product name attached to them that you have kept? (you

did know that regular candles aren't vegan as well as being toxic?)

I don't know about soy inks, but I bought a soy candle and ohhhhh, it smells

sooo good. Like a fresh green apple. And there is no smoke, no nasty

carcinogens...I'm not going back to regular candles after this!

Hi,

If you go through google you can do searches

on

soy candles

soy candles vegan

soy candles wax

The last one is if you want to make the

candles yourself.

Here's one of the sights resulting from

soy candles vegan

http://www.naturalights.com/

It says: " Our toxin-free, vegan-approved wax creates

luminaries that are long burning - up to 40 percent

longer than their paraffin counterparts, and produce

no smoke or toxic soot. "

I haven't bought soy candles but it sounds like

a good ideas. I make candles, currently from paraffin

wax, but moving to soy wax sounds like a good idea.

I will investigate this.

VegNews (which we've recently discussed) has a two-page spread

on " Kind Candles " in this month's issue. They give the following

recommendations:

Bluewick veganunlimited.com

AlohaBay alohabay.com (these are made with palm wax)

BeansWax beanswax.com

WholeMade wholemade.com

Er'go ergocandle.com

I *never* buy scented candles... but the other day I ran across the

Bluewick candles and had to buy Tangier scent (tangerine/vanilla) - it

was so wonderful, it has the real scents instead of chemical perfumes

(which really bother me) and oh, yum! It just smelled so good it

leaped off the counter into my hand!
