Guest guest
I love all of those, especially okra. I make okra patties, I split okra open and stuff it and cook in tomato sauce. There isn't a veggie I don't like. I can't stand mint, milk or rye bread and that's about it. Guest guest
I'm not too keen on onions, although I don't mind shallots and small spring onions so I use them as a substitute in recipes that call for onion. Otherwise I like just about every vegetable I've tried. Guest guest
I am really reserved about lima beans. I have developed a slight attraction for them from the dried state, shelled and sprouted slightly. I also dislike brussel sprouts. They seem to have a big attraction for aphids from what I have seen though. I don't like okra. I love raw corn! Larry Next-gen email? Have it all with the all-new Mail Beta. Guest guest
I personally can't stand asparagus (sp?). My daughter loves it (go figure!). I'm also not fussy for eggplant. I love to eat raw turnip, but can only tolerate the taste if it is in a stew or soup - won't eat it mashed, even with potatoes or carrots. Guest guest
The taste varies a lot with the season too, Paul. I prefer the ones right in the middle of the season, they taste a little less earthy to me. But if you dip almost anything in butter & lemon the taste improves hehehe. Also, if you try one again, try to find one that's tight, with the leaves lying tight and smooth, not poking out like a blossom or on the way to blossoming. Artichokes are actually a blossom I learned. They look cool when they bloom, like something on star trek, but you can't eat them then I don't think. Guest guest
I can't think of one single vegetable I've tried that I won't eat. To me, they're all good. But, this reminds me of an article I read awhile back about the fact that some people are more sensitive to bitter or other unusual tastes. It's an extra perception they have in their taste buds, or something like that. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Sorry if someone else has mentioned this already-- still trying to catch up on digests...LOL! One of my friends is Filipino, and we all angle to sit next to her at Mexican restaurants because we get her guacamole. She grew up mixing the avocado with milk and sugar, and that's the taste she's used to. Tried it once, and it wasn't bad, but kind of odd. Give me a great chunky guacamole any day!
