Guest guest
I would replace the turkey with avocado. But I LOVE avocado. Or maybe hummus? ) Rachel ~ http://www.thelucastribe.com ~ KUSTOMIZED KIDS ~ http://www.cafepress.com/kustomizedkids Children's/Pregnancy/Natural Parenting/Personalized Clothing Designs HALLOWEEN DESIGNS ARE UP! - sammythingy Wednesday, September 13, 2006 10:37 AM Now, a sandwich... Thanks for all the ideas for rice. Now, what would you put on a sandwhich? I usually have lettuce, tomato, cheese and turkey. What is a veggie alternative? Thanks for your help:) I'll get the hang of this, one meal at a time!
Guest guest
We like to add falfel patties, hummus, Morning Star Farm Patties(found in the frozen breafast section of most grocery stores), the Delicious Veggie Burger Pattie recipe( it is in the files here, under Substititutes for meat and Dairy and then under " not cow " ) or Worthington brands Vegetarian Meat Substitute Luncheon slices (http://tinyurl.com/jsymy click on Meatless " Chicken " roll thru the Wham) which we LOVE. Guest guest
Ohh, ..... hummus and sprouts in a wrap (tortilla, lavash, " flatout " , whatever!). Rice (or quinoa) and beans in a wrap. Lightlife (or other) veg*n bacon for a BLT (I always do just the BL, as I cant eat the tomato.) Black bean dip (basically like hummus, but with black beans vs the chicpeas: can of beans, lime juice, garlic, maybe some salsa [i like the verde {green} best], and whir in the processor.) with avacodo slices. Lightlife vegan 'chicken' strips (or other) with onions and peppers fajita style (in a tortillia) There's always the veg*n deli slices...I am not found of them, so I don't use those myself. Actually pretty much anything can go between two slices of bread, or in a wrap!! Get creative! Thia On 9/13/06, sammythingy <sammything wrote: > > Thanks for all the ideas for rice. Guest guest
Remove the turkey and add onion, avocado, shredded carrot and cucumber to the veggies and cheese already there and serve with 12 grain bread with mayo and dijon mustard. sammythingy <sammything wrote: Thanks for all the ideas for rice. Guest guest
Well, since I just became vegetarian (and not doing very well at it the past week), I will either do a cheese quesadilla (cream cheese, American Cheese, and pepper jack cheese) or tomato, lettuce and onion and spinach leaves wrapped up in a a tortilla shell. Guest guest
I just had a Yummy Sandwich for lunch today. I used Italian Herb Seasoned French Bread. I added Veganaise, sliced Tomatoes, thin slice onions, Baco's, and sprinkled with Tony Chachere's Famous Creole Seasoning. I like to wrap up by sandwiches with a paper towel, so the Baco's don't fall out. Yummmmmmmmmm. Guest guest
Hey all! I had to respond to this one... I am about to be the sandwich queen, as I will practically live on the road for a while...so here's a few of my fav. vegan combos. I ate every single one of these during my training school I was attending in Ft. Worth, Tx. I was living in my motel out of a cooler for four weeks...so i kept it simple, went to whole foods and central market when i could for fresh produce...and got creative with dressings and spreads Bread: I use a sunflowerseed bread or whole wheat bread from HEB's bakery. They are both free of preservatives, honey and other animal products...not sure what I shall find on the road though. Veggie Deluxe: Sprouts (alfalfa and sunflower if possible) Spinach Baby lettuce Tomato Cucumber Shredded Beet and carrot Veganaise and Tofutti cream cheese w/ veggie soup mix added to make it veggie cream cheese Protein hoppin sandwich: Melissa's Chick'n deli slices (found these at wal-mart in Ft. Worth, Tx.) Cottage Tofu (got it at whole foods...kind of a dill flavor) Kidney beans Sprouts Spinach Pickle Shredded carrots Simple sandwich: Tofurkey slices Veganaise baby lettuces tomato pickle Mondo sandwich: (everything but the kitchen sink!!) Sprouts (alfalfa and sunflower if possible) Spinach Baby lettuce Tomato Cucumber Olives Pickles Red peppers Shredded Beet and carrot Veganaise and Tofutti cream cheese (plain) Mustard or balsamic vinegar...depends on the mood Slice of follow your heart vegan cheddar Lightlife Ham and turkey slices Pepper Nutty Sandwich: Cashew Butter Slivered Almonds Sprouts Sliced Strawberries Veganaise Hope that gives some ideas! ~Mel , " sammythingy " <sammything wrote: > > Thanks for all the ideas for rice. Guest guest
Yummy ideas:) Thanks! I went to Moe's Burritos today, (I have sworn off fast food, but Moe's and Pizza are too much to ask...) and had tofu on my burrito instead of chicken. It was so good, I bought tofu on my way home..I'll have to wait till this weekend to try it. DOes Tofu grill well? I'm very excited about all of this:) Lori
Guest guest
Hi Lori, I think tofu grills very well. I tried it this summer for the first time. I cut a piece almost a half inch thick, let it marinate in soy sauce, chili sauce, lime juice & smushed garlic for a while, then set it on the bbq 2 mins on one side, little less on the other. Hubby puts a pot lid over it to trap the smoke cuz I like it smokey and then I just eat it plain. That's my new fave thing alongside veggie sushi Peace, Diane , " sammythingy " <sammything wrote: > > Yummy ideas:) Thanks!
