It seemed like some sites I looked at said it was, while others said it was chick peas with tomatoes, onions and other spices? Cut potatoes into 1/2 " slices, then cut them into 1 " squares 2. Heat oil in iron pot, add onion and garlic 3. Mix curry powder with cold water, add to oil and cook until thick 4. Add potato and stir till coated with curry 5. Add 1 cup of boiling water and cook until most of the water boils down 6. I would say it is closer in size to mung bean. If you go to Atlanta, I am sure you could find some. I would just substitute any bean or lentil for channa. Channa dhal is similar to split yellow peas or yellow lentils (of which there is a HUGE shortage due to poor wwather in India and prices are sky-high for the real stuff!). Shen PEACE!
