Mango's - Kathy

I wonder if Green Mango's that folks eat are different than the ones that ripen

to a nice butter yellow color. When I've tried to eat them under ripe, they

taste so chalky and tart. I love them when buttery yellow inside. I peel and

slice into a bowl. Grab a fork and eat the whole thing.... Yummmmmmmmmmm

-The best way to eat a ripe mango is to make a little bite on the

non-stem end and squeeze and suck the mango out! I learned that on

the bus in Fiji when the bus stopped along the road and everyone got

out and collected bags of mangos. Avoid getting on your skin as it

can cause rash for some people. My son eats them South Pacific

style, very green with salt.

They are the same thing. I never heard of eating it this way but

evidently soe people do it. I do know that many Indian pickles are

made from green mangoes. The chutneys usually use ripe mangoes.
