Guest guest
Dear Christie, Coincidence or what Today, my friend, Ryan got me 5 cans of Canned Black Beans in brine from a Caribean shop in Walthamstow, East London One is " Epicure " brand and the others are " Tropical Sun " brand. They are just 59p each And there is a recipe in one of them which I will be sharing here if I can find my reading glasses That's it, I am going to try and find that smoked tofu from now on What did you pay for the tofu? Best Wishes, Wee On Behalf Of christie_0131 05 September 2006 18:12 Tinned Black Beans in the UK For my good friend Wee and all ex-pat Americans, living in the UK and desperate for the taste of home. I promise this will be my last post on this subject, LOL. Today in a tiny whole food shop roughly the size of my living room I located a tin of black beans. They are Suma brand, organic, fair trade and 91p a can - eeek :-(. Their web address is: www.suma.co.uk/ You could probably contact them to find out your local stockist of Suma products. If your local wholefood shop don't stock black beans, perhaps you could offer to print out some recipes using black beans with which they can tempt/educate their customers. I plan to hunt through the recipes and cook them for my dinner tonight. After all this trouble, if I don't like them I may well cry. I also located my favourite tofu - Taifun brand smoked tofu with almonds and sesame seeds. I am so delighted to have located another source for that since my 2 local wholefood shops both closed last month. Christie
Guest guest
What about Eden Foods brand? Are they available in the UK? If not, you could always order from: http://www.edenfoods.com/store/ -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog
Guest guest
What a bargain, Wee. I suspect your food down south is much cheaper than up here. The tofu cost £2.35 for a 200g packet. That is quite expensive, but on the other hand it is really yummy. I've eaten it cold, straight from the packet, with couscous and salad vegetables. Guest guest
I have never seen this brand over here, Erin. They don't seem to offer online ordering for overseas but it looks like a good company and they have interesting recipe files which I have bookmarked to look at later. Thank you Christie , " Erin " <truepatriot wrote: > > What about Eden Foods brand? Are they available > in the UK? Guest guest
Maybe not online ordering, but on their shipping page they say you can call to place an order. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog , " christie_0131 " <christie0131 wrote: > > I have never seen this brand over here, Erin.
