Guest guest
Shawn---you've seen the bugs on a log idea with peanut butter and celery and raisins? This could be ladybugs on a log. Just picture it--you could add finely minced garlic and ground cayenne to the chocolate icing. Then fill the celery stalk with the icing mix and then top the icing mix with about 5 little red chili pequins. So simple, and yet an attractive presentation of different tastes and textures! Actually, this silliness has kind of made me think that adding garlic and cayenne and ginger to peanut butter and serving in celery might actually be quite good. I'll have to experiment! Paula ...............The wonderful Paula came up with a very interesting idea today with garlic, chocolate icing, celery, chile-peppers and a few other ingredients. I'm feeling generous so I insist on cooking that interesting recipe and allowing all of you to try it as I trust your judgement better than I to let us know the results and flavors so that we may enter it into the tried and true recipe files. NO NO <pushes platter away> I will sacrifice my hunger, please you all finish it. I Insist!! )...........
Guest guest
See, what you are missing is that Shawn is serious...now he is going to be adding garlic, cayenne and red chili pequins to the icing. He is going to be breathing fire and all of his friends are going to kill you because you suggested it...told you I would get you back....let me know when you try it and if you survive. LOL. Paula, don't think I won't try this! You all just may end up seeing some pictures of (lard free) icing filled celery stalks. Might have to make an elegant arrangement (before devouring) as it seems it would look very cool with those shiny and bright red slivers of cut pequins on a deep and dark background of a choco filled celery boat... don't say I didn't warn ya. > > Actually, this silliness has kind of made me think that adding garlic and > cayenne and ginger to peanut butter and serving in celery might actually > be quite good. I'll have to experiment! Actually, yes, that does sound very very good! I do like the mixture of a rich pb with the juicy celery and I think that added spice and other flavors (garlic and ginger) would be excellent. That is definitely something we can work with. Now I'm getting hungry for it. I actually really like cold celery on a hot summer day (yet another reason why Linda and I are not compatible, LOL). Oh btw, I've had a mango in my kitching giving off the best of aromas. Cannot wait to eat it! It might taste better with black olive tapenade, than chocolate icing, and still have the visual contrast... Not that I'm gonna eat it. Guest guest
Amy, I think you're right about the tepenade. I was just trying to take the earlier theme of the chocolate and chili and make it fit in with the celery-loathing of a certain member of this list...but the addition of garlic kind of messes up the chocolate chili ambience.....sometimes these contrived things don't work out very well....but... Hmmmmm......tapenade stuffed celery with hot peppers on top! Sounds good! Thanks for the expert advice! Paula On Mon, 03 Apr 2006 22:27:35 -0000 " Amy " <sandpiperhiker writes: > LOL. Guest guest
linda! what you are missing is that Shawn and I are working very hard to come up with a recipe just for you! We know that you are a wonderful person with otherwise great instincts, but we don't want you to live your life without ever having appreciated the wonderful texture and cool crispiness of celery (thanks Shawn!) or that special little zingy rush that a good hot chili can deliver! You deserve these pleasures. We are here for you! We have only your best interests at heart! If you could just see my face now, you would see how mellow and kind and caring my expression is! Guest guest
Paula, don't you worry. My friends and I have your back. We'd never do such nonsense. We'll pull out our celery stalks from our celery cases (set next to our pepper spray holsters) and defend your honor against Linda and her prejudiced taste buds. Looks like the tides have turned, Linda. Bwhaahahaaha. S. Guest guest
ROFLMAO! How altruistic all of you are. I bow with great sincerity to your concern over my missing the nutrition to be found in celery and hot peppers. I have budgeted one bottle of tums a day to cope with your salvation of my health. Yes, I see that the smile on your face reminds me of the Buddha!
