Guest guest
What do you like about the soymilk that isn't in the rice milk? I have each here and they don't look that different, both have 30% calcium, for example. Two of my 4 can't have dairy (including raw and goat) and we mostly use *enriched* rice milk, but we use soy when we're low on funds. We try to keep them away from too much soy. We use almond only as a treat since it's so sugary. We try to keep milk subs to a minimum and just give them what they need in food form since rice milk is still enriched, ya know. Organic or not, raw or pastuerized, hubby & I feel cow's milk is for baby cows, not for human consumption (or adult cows, for that matter.) Besides, something like 80% of the human population over the age of 20 is lactose intolerant or dairy sensitive and most don't know it. They don't relalize that their little complaints or pain could be dairy induced because it isn't affecting their digestive system. There are just so many things dairy can cause or make worse. Looks like they're all just moneymakers. Anybody know if there's anything I can add to rice or almond milk to make it as good for my boy as soymilk? I'd love to cut out milk completely anyway, and if organic milk is just BS that's even more of a reason, I guess. > > Kadee Sedtal > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Here is a handy table comparing cow's milk and different brands of soy and rice milk. http://www.metrokc.gov/health/nutrition/rice-soy-milk.pdf#search=%22rice%20milk%\ 20nutrition%22 There is a difference in protein, but most of us (yes, even vegetarians) get way too much protein as it is and aren't ever aware. meg On 8/21/06, Kadee M <abbey_road3012 wrote: > I will compare them next time I'm in the store... I would assume rice milk had less protein? I do agree about the thing about the milk being for baby cows... wonder who thought up using it for people?? I never knew some of the horrible things about dairy until a few months ago when I read something about how since it's an animal product it pretty much causes the same problems as meat... gross! My poor little boy, he freaks out if he doesn't get his milk every couple of hours! We'll try the rice milk for him, though. > > Kadee Sedtal > > > > Messenger with Voice.
