Well that does it with the kohlrabi! Did you ever have a dish your mom

cooked so often that you actually hated that food? My husband can't stand

cooked cabbage. His mother's house always smelled of cooked cabbage. So,

if kohlrabi has a slight cabbage flavor...he won't touch it. Funny, cause

he loves cabbage slaw.

It's great grated in salads. You can cut in slices

and steam. It has a slight cabbage flavor.

Now go get some and serve it to your husband.LOL

I haver not tried the kohrabi tops, I'm curious but I

better find out if they are piosonous first.

Doesn't it look like a space ship?

Ha! Mom and I lived alone from the time I was 12, and she was not a cook.

Burgers, fried chicken, meatloaf were about the extent of her cooking. I

can't remember her cooking anything I didn't like.

My mom wasn't a (good) cook either. My sister & I always joke that

we learned to cook in self-defense :) She used to make this salad in

the summer that was cool whip, cottage cheese, flavored gelatin

powder, mandarin orange slices(canned) and canned pineapple.

Everyone hated it but she would always make it. And this awful egg,

noodle, cheese & onion crockpot thing that had that nasty budding

sliced meat in it too. It was so thick and pasty it would stick to

the spoon in a big wad.

Later in life though she has developed better skills and now does

really good pumpkin pie every holiday & her bean soups are great, so

there's almost always hope. :)

Peace,

Diane

(sorry if I spoiled any appetites :) )

Mostly I think she was tired - single mom school full time & working

part time & 2 kids. Plus one time she told me if she could feel full

& get all her nutrition, she'd just as soon take a pill instead of

eating. Not a foodie. :) She always did make a really good spanish

rice tho'.

Peace,

Diane
