Guest guest
Yuck, worse than canned spaghetti....... Is that even possible........... Makes me nasuas thinking that folks eat that stuff.....Glad you mom taught you how to make all those desserts and breads though, so you can share them with your extended family, US of course..... Waving at you Sister Dear!!!!! Now don't drop open your mouth as you say, " NO WAY IS SHE MY SISTER " .... LOL Don't you let you mom see you writing all these little side notes on her delicious cooking. : )))) My mom is no gourmet cook by any means, but she had a gift for making the simpliest prepared dishes tastes great. I'm feeling pretty lucky over here, after hearing all you guys tales.... Judy - Donnalilacflower Wednesday, August 09, 2006 9:55 PM bad meals at home Diane Luckily I came from a long line of pasty experts and bread makers. Mom's dinner menu was always terrible but you could count on breads and delicious pastries if she had time to bake and she only gave you 2 or 3 cookies and a slice of bread. That was never enough for me. I have seen this gelatin cottage cheese salad, isn't it usually made in a bundt pan? It sure looks like a disaster to me. I had to learn how to make mashed potaties and boil pasta at a very young age. Mom always boiled pasta until it turned into glue, was almost worst than canned spaghetti and the mashed potatoes were full of lumps. Donna . Guest guest
When I was 14, my father bought me my own mobile home because my mother and I could not get along. He bought my food and came to my place to eat!!! He couldn't stand her cooking either!! And she didn't work, so she was home all day and only watched soaps on TV and would open a can of crap for supper. Guest guest
Isn't it nice to know that many great foods are easy to prepare. Sounds like you Dad wanted to spend time with you : )) , keep close to you and enjoy something better than home options in food. Guest guest
For every time somebody on this list says they dislike a food, someone is there to jump in and say they like it, LOL. I liked canned spaghetti when I was a kid. The stuff mom made gave me indigestion, and the adults said " oh heh heh you are too young for indigestion " but anyway I loved that Franco-American. Later in life I started liking Pot pies (Amy's brand makes good vegan ones now) but to think back to when I would see that cookie sheet coming out of the oven with 5 pot pies on it (two for dad) ughhhhhhh, but the woman made some bitchin' spaghetti and cheese lemmy tell ya. hugs, Chanda - wwjd Wednesday, August 09, 2006 11:08 PM Re: bad meals at home Donna Yuck, worse than canned spaghetti....... Guest guest
When I was first married, both my husband and I were going to college. Incoming money was via the G I Bill. Pot pies were about 5 or 6 for a buck. We ate a lot of them in those days. I don't think I have had one since then. sue ---- PuterWitch 08/10/06 08:30:47 Re: bad meals at home Donna For every time somebody on this list says they dislike a food, someone is there to jump in and say they like it, LOL.
