Guest guest
Dear Denise, Dang! I will be attending a course in the University of Liverpool Hospital in October but you are back in USA I was thinking we could meet up in Lancashire and go to a nice veggie restaurant for some banter My friend, Heather told me that her friend sent Marmite to another friend living in the USA I am curious why you guys are not able to buy them in the USA. Maybe you know something here? As for substitutes to Yorkshire Puddings and Custard Sauce, I haven't the faintest. Maybe Christie or Deepdreamer can give you some ideas? Christie may not be able to post now as she is busy with work in Dundee. Christie is trying to get everything done so she can scarper off to a family reunion and than to Spain for her holidays We may not hear from her for a while Best Wishes, Wee On Behalf Of Denise 13 September 2006 18:01 Re: hello! I'm new to the group -Deepdreamer -hello Wee and Deepdreamer, Having lived in England for 3 years and now back to America, I loved things like custard sauce and Yorkshire puddings. Now that I am vegan, I was wondering if you know substitute recipes for these and other British treats ???? Thanks, Denise W.-- > > Hi Deepdreamer > > Welcome > I am from the UK, located near Heathrow > > > Looking forward to your recipes > > > Best Wishes, > Wee > > > > > On Behalf Of deepdreamer78 > 12 September 2006 13:34 > > hello! Guest guest
Hi, Just had to pipe in with excitement. I, too, was on the hunt for several years to find vegan yorkshire pudding (My English grandmother used to make it all the time and i LOVED it!) I found one last year. So I thought I would post it.... Best, Jade p.s. We can get Marmite here in NYC, thank god! Yorkshire Pudding 1 cup white self raising flour 1 cup wholemeal self raising flour (or use plain flour and add baking powder) 1 t salt 2 egg replacers 1 cup soy milk 1 cup water Knob of 'vegan lard' solid white vegetable fat (I'm sorry, oil will NOT do!) METHOD 1. Heat oven to maximum temperature. Melt the vegetable fat in a large baking tray until piping hot. 2. Meanwhile, mix the dry ingredients together. Hydrate the egg replacers according to instructions on packet and stir in. Gradually add the water and soya milk and mix till smooth. 3. Pour into piping hot tin and bake for 20-25 mins, until golden brown on top. Serve with roast veg, lots of gravy and Redwood 'Roast Beef' (UK) or Tofurky Roast (US). Serves 4. NOTES This is not as fluffy as normal yorkshire pud, but the taste is spot on. Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less.
