Guest guest
I've been an ovo/lacto vegetarian for over three years now and now have decided to cut the dairy from my diet as well. Geez, who knew that they put it in EVERYTHING! Anyways, since I haven't been able to find a vegan cheese, I've been trying cheese recipes. EVERYONE remarks about the wonders of nutritional yeast, so I figured that I'd give it a try. I was a bit disappointed when I openned the jar (The Red Star brand) and it smelled like a jar full of vitamins. So I gave it a taste, and it tastes like plain ol' vitamins. Am I the only one who feels this way? What's wrong with me? Luckily, the melty cheese recipe that I made, I scaled way down - just in case- because I think that it's yucky. Did I get a bad brand or do I just have bad taste. I think that I'm going to stick with the cheese recipe that I have that is made with raw cashews. Boy was I disappointed!
