Guest guest
OMGoddess Amy! That is so pretty! Almost too pretty to eat, eh? i am going to put it up on the frontpage pic for the remainder of the month, if that is okay with you. You do a very good job photographing your food, too. ~ pt ~ These are dangerous times, speak your mind and you dig your own grave. ~ Sinead O'Connor ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Amy " <sandpiperhiker> wrote: > > Had a clipping from a newspaper article about Rose Levy Berenbaum's > Pie Bible, with her open-face " designer " apple pie in it. Guest guest
Amy, that is gorgeous. Looks very good too (nicely browned crust). That must have been a whole lot o' slicing! Oh btw, you have the most wonderfully organized pantry. I see your kitty helped you with that. What kind of tubs are those - are they microwave safe? Thanks. S. Thanks, pt! It was fun to make... and I took it to DH's office and let them all eat it! :-) Thanks for photo compliment too... I do love taking pictures. Oh, and yes, you can use it on the front page if you like.

Thanks, Shawn! The slicing was the easy part; arranging them in the pie took some time though! :-) The crust has sour cream in it, and you brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar just before baking, so it always browns nicely (knock on wood; at least every time so farfor the last 6 or 7 years!). > Oh btw, you have the most wonderfully organized pantry. Here's a link to one site that sells them: http://www.organize-everything.com/lolofostco.html I know Target has a few sizes as well. When we lived in SC, the Winn-Dixie had them and if you had their customer card, you could get them really cheaply. I went back many times for more! Oh, and when you use these in the fridge, they are airtight - food lasts much longer than a normal rubbermaid type thing. My washed lettuces last at least a week usually longer. They are microwave safe, but as with everything plastic, I would not nuke anything fatty or acidic (tomatoes) etc., or you'll end up with pits and stains (well, I assume you would with these, I rarely use the microwave and stopped nuking in plastic before I had these). Oh, and kitty definitely likes to get in anywhere she can! I think that was Chloe; her sister looks much the same though so I can't tell without seeing the face.
