Guest guest
Get a crockpot at a thrift store or garage sale, there are tons of them out there for next to nothing. You can throw all sorts of rice, beans, veggies, tofu, etc in with water or broth in the morning and have a meal when you come home. Had enough pasta and rice? Have stew with nice toasty bread. And you'll have enough leftover to freeze or eat for a couple of meals. I'd have to agree. Crockpots are wonderful. If you have free time in the morning you can throw together a stew, chili, or soup, and let it go all day and you can have a hot meal when you get home. I have even made it up the night before and let it cook all night and put it in the frig in the morning. I then reheat it for dinner. Bread machine are great too. You can set up a bread to bake at the same time. Debbie
Guest guest
I'm in the same condition when I get home from work on Mon & Tues - tired & need to eat NOW - and I make bad food choices. I'm trying to get in the habit of having something healthy already cooked so I can just reheat it. What if you cut up all your stir fry stuff in the morning or the night before so all you'd have to do is actually fry it? I keep planning to do this but haven't gotten organized enough yet. Or maybe tonight you could have a slice of pnut butter toast while you chop & prep your stirfry. Sometimes if I can just take the edge off I can focus enough to cook real food. hth, Peace, Diane , " Mike " <realshows wrote: > > I've been doing a 1 week hockey training camp after work > > so after work, i;ve been eating carbs - pasta, potato, rice etc > > then i come home starved and have to make something fast. i was out > of leftovers last night so i threw a frozen pizza in the oven > > i get all these grand ideas ont he way home about making a big stir > fry, but when i get home I just wanna eat FAST - looks like tonight > will be peanut butter sandwiches unless anyone ahs any ideas >
Guest guest
You can always cook some type of pasta and add a few items of chioce, tomato sauce, cheese, alfredo sauce, some sort of veggie mixture...doesnt take too much time. , " Mike " <realshows wrote: > > I've been doing a 1 week hockey training camp after work > > so after work, i;ve been eating carbs - pasta, potato, rice etc > > then i come home starved and have to make something fast. i was out > of leftovers last night so i threw a frozen pizza in the oven > > i get all these grand ideas ont he way home about making a big stir > fry, but when i get home I just wanna eat FAST - looks like tonight > will be peanut butter sandwiches unless anyone ahs any ideas >
Guest guest
I work in a school cafeteria - let's not talk about school food - and we often cut things up ahead of time so they are ready to go. It has helped me tremendously at Thanksgiving. I have even measured out spices etc. and put in bowls. Very helpful to have everything ready to throw together. Guest guest
Ha Ha Ha .....poor Mike!!! When I need to remember something like putting out the recycling or plugging in the crockpot before I leave in the AM I put a Post-It note on the door the night before. It really helps!! Guest guest
We've all forgotten to plug a crockpot in ... or start a bread machine. It's happened to everybody. Debbie
