Guest guest
I know the wonders of turmeric have been discussed on this group and that many of us are interested in holistic approaches to self care. Myself, I am highly motivated to avoid doctors. Having said that, remember a few weeks ago I broke a toe on my driving foot, the toe next to the pinkie toe? Well, it was getting better then gradually began to get worse. I wasn't paying too much attention to it (shame on me) until last weekend when I gave it careful scrutiny. I realized I had an infection in the top of the toe, which surprised me since I had sustained no broken wound. But the tip of the toe was swollen, painful, and pink. The infection was mostly on top of the toe and the cuticle was lifted above the nail bed. This concerned me, but not unduly (it was only pink, not red, with no shooting streaks, and I had no fever or other symptoms and felt otherwise fine) so I decided to try and self medicate before calling the doctor (and it was the weekend anyway). Believe me, had I seen no improvement by Monday I would have seen the doctor. So, I did two things. I started quaffing turmeric, dissolved in warm water, twice a day. (It is a blood purifier.) I also started soaking my foot in hot water (as hot as I could stand) with dissolved epsom salts, twice a day. Sure enough, it's MUCH better! It's been slow going, because once the infection " died " it had to be reabsorbed (no where to go). It's not quite back to normal today, but almost. Anyway, I kept thinking of GB as I quaffed that turmeric brew. (Truly, it wasn't yummy. And turmeric, like antibiotics, can mess up your intestinal flora, so I also ate homemade yogurt with live cultures to help balance things out.) :-) Sharon P.S. Please don't construe this as medical advice, but I wanted to share my experience. I love the earthclinic.com site, which has many folk remedies with anecdotal experiences. Guest guest
Sharon Good for you! I'll bet your pocketbook also thanks you. I have one question. Where did you hear that turmeric kills intestinal flora? As far as I know, turmeric should enhance the flora. Check out this site. http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/turmeric.html -- In , Sharon Zakhour <sharon.zakhour wrote: > > I know the wonders of turmeric have been discussed on this group and > that many of us are interested in holistic approaches to self care. > Myself, I am highly motivated to avoid doctors. > > Having said that, remember a few weeks ago I broke a toe on my driving > foot, the toe next to the pinkie toe? Guest guest
Yogurt definitely will not affect the turmeric negatively. There is a recipe for the skin. make or buy a gallon of yogurt. Mix it with turmeric. Get in the bathtub without water and slather on the yogurt/turmeric mixture. Stay in the tub an hour. Rinse off. it may be good to have a heater since you may get chilled. It may also help to put plastic on the floor so the room will not get messed up.Also the towel and clothes may get stained. Use something like Oxyclean to get stains out. They are not hard to get out if you do it right away. This will make your skin radiant and beautiful.
