Believe it or not some folks actually think black pepper has a bit of a bite. I'll just sub some bell pepper in Amy's Sante Fe Stew for you. Therefore you can play like you're a chilehead with the rest of us. You DO want to be cool like the rest of us, correct?? Surely so. Amy's stew...can you actually manage that with > Anasazi beans and no heat? I'll somehow survive. I've been wanting to try those beans. Was a bit surprised that my store didn't carry them. No hot stuff in that dish would still be great and believe me the aroma of that initial Cumin/Cinnamon semi-dry mixture with the onions and what-not was incredible. Add in the rest of the spices and ingredients (minus anything sour) and you'll love it. I had to use zucchini and squash because the particular type listed was nowhere (well there was one and only one was not going to cut it). Mmmm, that smell was good. > > Not ironic that they hide terrible things in our food nor that they do > terrible things to our food. Yah, seems like more money goes into advertising, the politics of labeling and monopolizing the shelf space then does the quality and integrity of the food. It is a wacky system with some where consumers are a secondary objective to winning the war against the competing food company. Keep on the lookout and do what you can! S. Guest guest
Yes, well, some would say I have a macabre sense of humor some of the time and the rest of the time they either miss it or find me weird. You ought to see some people do a stutter step as they realize I am probably kidding but not quite too sure or realize that they missed something. LOL I'm bad. Indeedy, good black pepper has a bite to it...some of the cheap stuff is just flavorless. I want red bell peppers please...green don't like, yellow is too expensive for me to try, but red are lovely. Sweet. Yes, I want to play with the big kids and so having red in the stew will be perfect...no one will know will they? You won't tell them promise? You can pretend it was hot and salvage your pride without telling them and on me. Yes, I can smell it now. We have a place called Yum Yum and they have the best beans and rice dish with their special sauce and salsa. You can spice it up with avocado and olives and such too. But one of their best dishes is made with rice and zucchini in a stew kind of deal and to top it all off, everything there for the most part is organic. Lots of tofu which I love but can't replicate. However, my new way of doing the tofu had really given it a dense, meaty texture. I am so trying to move away from any processed foods to escape the way our food is now treated. Takes time and re-educating myself though. linda " subprong " <subprong > > Of course, tis me - all mulched and mealed up but still me. Oh, yeah, I do love that smell too. 'course, yesterday I roasted 5 heads of garlic, and boy the apartment smelled good! (BTW - they were sprouted - still tasted fine - the inside green bits roasted up just like the rest.)
