Guest guest
This is true, but I still interchange them because the taste is so close!! A turnip will cook up fast like a potatoe, rutabagas are slower to cook. --- wwjd <jtwigg wrote: > I was wondering if you were referring to the turnips > that some with turnip greens or Rutabagas. Guest guest
You know I don't like cooked turnips off of greens much at all, but I do like them sliced up raw. I think they taste very different from Rutabagas. I love to peel a Rutabaga and then slice them like large steak fries. I boil them with a little salt and butter. Sometimes I serve them just like this and other times I make Mashed White Potatoes in a seperate pot and then make mashed Rutabagas from cooking them as directed above. Then I combine them and add a little Smart Balance. Yummmm. Guest guest
I make carrots and turnips, microwave the carrots first, then add the turnips cause the carrots take longer, then I put some margarine, then a bit of maple syrup. hugs, Chanda - wwjd Monday, August 07, 2006 1:56 PM Re: rutabagas vs turnips You know I don't like cooked turnips off of greens much at all, but I do like them sliced up raw. Guest guest
I don't know if I posted this before. This recipe is specifically for women who are " out of sorts " . you can make that decision yourself. Of course, men can eat this also. Just make a meal or meals with this dish and see how much different you feel. At the same time, do not eat sweets because this changes the metabolism. Steamed Turnips turnips almond oil black pepper Steam turnips. Mash them. Put some almond oil on them and season with black pepper. Guest guest
I eat both of these vegetables quite often. I roast them in the oven, add to my soups and I will mash both of them together with potatoes with some butter, salt and chives. I like a spoonful of horseradish on top when I eat them.
