Guest guest
Now aren't we a pair? Buying things and then not remembering what it was that we intended to make with it. LOL Somehow I doubt that the buckwheat, capers, and cardamom will make something very edible. But we could do it and con people into believing it will prevent heart attacks. They are doing that all of the time...conning us. linda christie_0131 Can't help you on the cardamom, Linda, although I'm sure I've had it in chay and also as a flavouring for kulfi (Indian ice cream). But I just got back from the shops proudly bearing a packet of unroasted buckwheat which I have been searching for all week, and I have absolutely no idea what I had intended to make with it. Perhaps we could cobble something together with my buckwheat and your capers and cardamom... Christie
Guest guest
Bless you! My daughter Mary is usually my file drawer...she has a memory that doesn't stop (except when it is to her advantage of course) but since I hadn't mentioned these she didn't know. The capers were a replacement for something else...LOL...what? I have no clue....it was going to be dumped into the blender from what I remember. I know that someone mentioned a chef used them as a replacement for shrimp though. It will come back sooner or later and I will have it then. I even found capers in organic. Imagine that. The tahini was organic too. Oh, you know that mold problem I was having? Well, this morning I took a hot cloth and tooth brush to it and it just came off. LOL An extreme example of how we get entrenched in an idea...that only bleach or some toxin will cure the problem. I didn't even try the cloth before I went for the bleach. Probably from experience it wouldn't come off so simply. Talk about being stuck in past behavior! So now I will go around once a week and wash it off even if it doesn't show. All of the windows, sills, panes, etc. May my nose heal in peace. linda ~ PT ~ Now as to memory of what recipes you were going to use what in... Capers: i like to put these dawgs in my spaghetti sauce. They are also great on bagels with cream cheese. Cardamom: Was it the recipe for Old Bay Seasoning? If i remember right, i think that is the last recipe posted here that called for the use of caramom.
Guest guest
the only things I've ever used cardamom/mon (which is it anyhow? my cookbook says mon, my bottle says mom) in were a norwegian dessert bread for my kid's norway co-op and in my chai I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE capers. I also LOVE nasturtiam (and grow it). I also LOVE buckwheat flour over anything else and I make the bestest pancakes and waffles ever with it! Guest guest
HI Linda: I think the capers were a replacement for Anchovies, although I am not sure what the anchovies would have been in. Gayle
Guest guest
HI Linda: I am very behind... I don't have a lot of time on-line. I get caught almost caught up on the weekends and then once Monday hits I fall behind again. Mondays are a tough day for me as I leave the house in the mornings at 6:45 like I do everyday but after my full time job I go to my part time job as a waitress with barely enough time to change clothes no time to go on-line. So here I am a week behind again. Now that I have totally bored you, I will say Yes I think the capers were to be used in a salad dressing instead of anchovies. Guest guest
Yes, they were. LOL Are you behind on your mail? <grinning> I am going to use them in a salad dressing using the blender. I don't know if that was the originally idea, but it is now. <giggle> linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
