Guest guest
Poor linda... we are going to have you living in a poorhouse before long with all the little extras we encourage you to buy. Well, at least your pepper mill works good. i definitely need a new one. i think i bought a bad quality mill because it was cheap, and the old axiom that you get what you pay for seems to hold true for kitchen gadgets. Now as far as white pepper goes, i just never bothered with it, even in cream soups and such. i like to see those black flecks floating in each bite. Invisible white pepper just seems so dishonest to me. *lol* And yes, those Eskimos and Inuit folks sure have a very zen approach to life. The other day i had rented an old Disney movie titled 'Never Cry Wolf'. It is one of my long time favorite films. It is about a guy who signs up to go to the wilds of the Great North to investigate the caribou population in regards to the wolves. At the end of the movie is a beautiful Inuit song quoted [you will love it, i am certain]: I think over again my small adventures, My Fears, Those small ones that seemed so big. For all the vital things I had to get and to teach. And yet there is only one great thing, The only thing, To live to see the great day that dawns And the light that fills the world. ~ Old Inuit Song Isn't that lovely? Brings tears to my eyes... ~ pt ~ See ye not, courtesy is the true alchemy, Turning to gold all it touches and tries? ~ George Meredith (1828-1909) ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " linda " <lindai81 wrote: > > Now I have to go spend more money and go find colorful and varied peppercorns. Thanks a lot. My salt and pepper mill work, but I don't think the Celtic salt would work in it due to the moisture content. Thanks for the help. I like just the coarser ground pepper for cooking and have used the mill on the table. I seem to be the only one around here into pepper. I ran out of white pepper many years ago and never replaced it, but think I will now since I have to go pepper hunting as sometimes it is distracting in a soy cream soup. Looks like bugs fell into the soup. Oh, yes, the Eskimo must have been a Buddhist Eskimo. > linda
Guest guest
You are " going " to have me living in the poorhouse? Going? Ha! You had a secret agenda didn't you and you have succeeded. Pepper is so expensive. I never noticed that before. It was always a staple that I just bought and never gave it a second thought. The white pepper is because my daughter hates pepper and using the white pepper she never even notices. And if any one tells her of my sneakiness I will be serving them up to Attila the Hun for brunch. Dishonest? No, mothernessly. (stands for necessity of motherhood) I love the movie " Never Cry Wolf " (Farley Mowat) and have watched it many times. Think I have to again. You are the bane of my life. Always having to go spend money due to you and now the movies. I love my bathroom, but I might give it up to go do what he did or I might just go crazy or turn into a wise woman. His book is so popular that it is still on the shelves. But wolves are a favorite of mine if you have seen my needlework you would guess that too. It is a beautiful Inuit song. Also very, very Buddhist, but then Buddhist and Native American leaders see in each other the same way of seeing the world and have formed alliances with each other. Fears and worries (which are simply fears) sure do get in the way of seeing what is right in front of our eyes. And this week fear overwhelmed me. And then lifted. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
