Guest guest
Way too expensive and often times tortilla chips have a greasy texture and no telling what else, so....Make your own..Easy, tasty and good for you chips. I use a package of my favorite tortillas/wraps. Such as sun dried tomato or jalapeno-cilantro. Dampen each tortilla slightly with water and sprinkle with sea salt. Cut into desired shapes and place on a tray in the oven. No heat..Just air dry. I leave my oven door slightly ajar. After a couple of days remove the crispy chips and store in a container in a dry cupboard. My next project is to try drying marinated tofu in the dehydrator. Anyone else tried it? Our dried tomatoes are great and the canned tomato sauce is yummy. Having a hard time saving them for winter ..LOL Love and hugs Deanna
Guest guest
Really? They are crispy with no baking? I'm just picturing a bag of store bought ones and how stale they get, when the bag gets left open. I have to rebake them to crisp them back up, when this happens. Guest guest
You either have central air or live in a dry climate. I'm on Long Island, NY and all I get is crumbly, stale tortillas. I've left one or two out by accident when making wraps and they were inedible. I've had baked which were good, not as good as fresh fried ones, but just letting them dry out? Guest guest
-Jnais, Oh you can bet I live in a dry climate. Colorado prairie here..Sometimes during rare times that the humidity is high I do slightly bake the tortilla chips. At times I spray them lightly with olive oil and spice them up with favorite herbs and spices. Today I have the jalapeno-cilantro drying and looks like it will take only a couple hours for them to be crispy. Temps have been in the high 80's for the last few days. Noticing Fall colors here. Beautiful time of the year. Smiles and hugs Deanna-- In , " jandor9 " <jandor9 wrote: > > You either have central air or live in a dry climate.
