Split Pea Soup

3/4 cups dried split peas

3 1/2 cups water

1/3 c chopped onion

1/2 tsp bl pepper

1/2 tsp saffron powder (tumeric)

 

salt to taste

 

 

Soak peas over night

 

Drain and wash

 

Add all other ingredients

 

Cover and simmer for 2 hours or until soft and thick. (I use a hand

blender to finsh it off)

 

Serve with a sprinkle of chopped chives as garnish
