Guest guest
Hi Angie, I'm enjoying reading your recipes and will work up the courage to try okra again soon (so far I only like it curried). I'm craving soup and was wondering if you had any good soup recipes with your lovely spice combinations? Peace, Diane
Guest guest
You can try the callaloo soup as well as the split pea soup. I think you will enjoy a good corn soup which is basically using the split pea soup and adding corn (tin or frozen will do just fine), add some finely chopped carrots and a couple leaves of cilantro (chopped fine). I usually go on to add some flour dumplings (just flour, salt and water mixed to form a dough and then shaped into little balls. You can stop here and enjoy but if you want something hearty as we do in Trinidad add potatoes cut in large cubes and pieces of pumpkin. This is a meal on its own. , " strayfeather1 " <otherbox2001 wrote: > > Hi Angie, > > I'm enjoying reading your recipes and will work up the courage to try > okra again soon (so far I only like it curried). Guest guest
Hey, Angie. When I saw that callaloo soup all I could think of was: We got crab and pig tail Squid ink and fish scale Okra and dasheen leaves Chitchat and chatter Fill up the platter With a garnish of pure make believe Calaloo, strange calaloo Mysterious and curious roux Though some might think somehow they are not Make no mistake we're all in the same pot Take it from me this is no camelot. Now....in case this does not sound familiar....these words were written by Jimmy Buffett (did I mention that I am the world's oldest Parrothead?) for Hermon Waulk's Don't Stop the Carnival. Guest guest
Lol yeah I remember that. You can add crab and pig tail but it doesnt matter if you leave it out for a veg. soup. I do it without. (never had it with squid ink and fish scale) , " Sue " <kup wrote: > > Hey, Angie. > When I saw that callaloo soup all I could think of was: > We got crab and pig tail > Squid ink and fish scale > Okra and dasheen leaves > Chitchat and chatter > Fill up the platter > With a garnish of pure make believe > > > Calaloo, strange calaloo > Mysterious and curious roux > Though some might think somehow they are not > Make no mistake we're all in the same pot > Take it from me this is no camelot. > > Now....in case this does not sound familiar....these words were written by > Jimmy Buffett (did I mention that I am the world's oldest Parrothead?) for > Hermon Waulk's Don't Stop the Carnival. > Ha. > sue > > > > ---- > > angie00735 > 08/24/06 20:10:09 > > Re: Angie - Soup? > > You can try the callaloo soup as well as the split pea soup. > > I think you will enjoy a good corn soup which is basically using the > split pea soup and adding corn (tin or frozen will do just fine), > add some finely chopped carrots and a couple leaves of cilantro > (chopped fine).
