How cool! That probably made everyone's day and hopefully they passed it on. Can

I pass this on to another list while deleting your name and all? I'll just copy

and paste it so that nothing shows up that could identify you.

The coolest thing happened to me yesterday!! I went to the post

office at 4 p.m. to purchase 2 cent stamps. Maybe I'm a little out

of touch but I thought it would be a quick in and out trip. After

making my way around the huge line about 60 people deep to get to

the stamp vending machine, I discover it's " Sold Out " . Disappointed

and a little irritated, I make my way to the back of the line,

behind the 10 additional people who came in and got in line while I

was standing at the vending machine. I look up at the back of the

man in front of me and can't help but read the tattoo on the back of

his neck that he obviously had put there for people just like me

(thanks!) " F*** off " How nice. So glad I didn't bring my 7 year old,

who loves to read, everything in sight, really loudly. Luckily, I

had nowhere to be, so my irritation level was fairly low but as I

looked around I could feel that was not the case with most of the

people there. A postal worker comes out a few minutes into my wait

in line and asks if anyone has one of those notices to pick

something up. A few people yell out " We need stamps! " and the postal

worker informs them of the vending machine. He got filled in about

that situation and tells us to keep waiting because the clerk has " a

few. " As we got halfway to the front desk, and after a wait of about

25 minutes, we notice that there are only two clerks helping all

these people. The stress level went through the roof! Just then, the

woman at the front of the line gets to the counter and says, " I'll

take five bucks worth of 2 cent stamps " and I'm thinking shes

probably buying all that's left!! Oh, no! Then she turns around and

starts GIVING them away to everyone in line that needed them. It was

like Christmas in there! Everyone taking what they needed and then

passing the sheets of stamps down to the next person. She cut their

line by about 2/3 and really diffused an ugly situation. So cool!

like that stamp passing woman. :)

I love this story it really gives me hope and makes me feel a wee bit

humble at the same time as I'm not sure I would have thought to be so

generous.

One thing has been puzzling me though. Does the mail over there only

cost 2 cents or has it just gone up by 2 cents? I know things are a

lot cheaper in the USA than here, but I find I don't want to believe

your mail only costs 2 cents, as it hasn't been that price here since

Victorian times!
