Hi, welcome. Eating out can be easier than you think. Outback steakhouse, for

example, has walhalla pasta (which is wonderful!), and if you ever have the

extreme good fortune to go to a Saltgrass steakhouse, you can get the best baked

sweet potato in the world, plus they do their vegetables just perfectly and the

bread... oh, the bread!! Just be creative. There are tons of things you can just

order without the meat, and a lot of times they'll charge less for it. Jack in

the Box gives us five veggie sandwiches- sourdough bread, two pieces of cheese,

lettuce, tomato, and onion for I think under $2. I'm just destroyed right now

because the 22nd is our drive-thru guy's last day. We start ordering and refer

the person taking our order to the posted reciept they have for us, and when

they get confused Justin comes on the speaker, " I got it, I got it. " I'll miss

him!! Oh well. You will find allies in restaurants, especially ones you go to

often. Ooh, almost forgot- Chili's fajita

pita!! Without the meat, of course, and I have yet to find a Chili's that won't

agree to cook my vegetables on a clean (no meat) surface. You'll get a few dumb

comments, but it does get easier to deal with over time. As far as eating at

home- my husband only eats meat during his lunch break at work because I won't

have it in the house. That makes it impossible to fail. Explain to your husband

how healthy it is for you, your son, and him, and just tell him flat out- no

meat in the house. You want it, you go get it, you cook it, and you clean up

after yourself. That's how it was for a while with my husband till I got

pregnant the second time. Meat of any sort disgusts me anyway, and the time he

opened a can of baby shrimp for his ramen noodles was it. I said, " enjoy that

while I throw away any other meat in the house. I'm not going to raise my kids

thinking this is okay. " That was it. Set yourself up for success- don't have

temptation in the house. No Atkins dieter would

succeed if their house was loaded with tasty carb-loaded dishes, would they!

Remove the temptation, even if just for a while, and after some time you just

won't want it anymore. My husband usually orders veg meals when he's out with

his co-workers!
