Melissa,

I am allergic to nearly everything I eat, but I love Quorn & have had no

problem eating it! You should try it. It is very good!

I didn't really love the tofurkey we made last year, but have never tried

Quorn products, not

sure why...they are mushroom/fungi based? Any one have any reactions to the

product or

anything? I have food allergies and get nervous about trying stuff that I

don't really know.

Would like to though, it sounds like the Quorn is preferred over the

tofurkey!

thanks,

melissa

I adore every Quorn product. In fact, my refrigerator is stocked full

of Quorn chicken nuggets, hot dogs, chicken patties, chicken

breasts....

They are great products for something fast and easy. Last night I

made Quorn chicken parmesan.

The products are fungi/mushroom based. They are made with

mycoprotein, which on the Quorn box says something about it being

Greek for fungi.

I've made a test run of the Quorn roast, so I know what my first

holiday without meat will be like. I roasted it in a pan with

carrots, potatoes, onions, and vegetable stock. It was so good. It

looks a little odd when you take it out – kind of like a large roll

of cookie dough. As long as you can get past the looks of the roast,

it tastes just like real meat. Even my meat-eating boyfriend thought

it was great.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

My vote for Quorn… five stars. :)

To each his own but I am absolutely AMAZED at the amount of processed foods

some folks are eating. Someone is gonna chop my head off but, I wonder if

eating all those chemicals, salt and such is worse than eating meat? I am

prepared for the blow........I am ducking :o) Still I love the recipes and

the

banter back and forth. This is how we learn, this is how we grow. Love this

group!

Roxanne,

That is a hard question to answer. I think to get a good answer you

would have to compare each individual food and also the individual

eating it. I belong to an ayurvedic forum on the web. One of the

smartest members is a fellow who is very much into eating meat,

although he advocates moderate amounts and prescrbes for the

individual's dosha. I learn more from him than almost any other

member. It is very hard to debate him because he is so thorough and

knowledgeable. David Frawley, one of the preeminent ayurvedic writers

from the US says that meat is the best body builder of almost any type

of food. He also says that it carries the most karma to eat it. When

one eats it, then they are taking the prana (lifeforce) from that

animal. I read a book about cancer by a dentist of all people. He

figured out an extremely effective diet for cancer. He had recovery

rates any doctor would envy. His wife came down with a disease. I

think it was cancer but not sure. He put her on his veggie diet that

was so successful. She became extremely emaciated. He fed her meat

and she started getting better. She finally recovered. Maybe she

would have recovered using another variation of the veggie diet but I

do not know what she specifically ate.
