Guest guest
I taught kindergarten and Pre school and this was one of the children's favorite " cooking " treats. BTW...how can you cut celery so there are no strings? Or is that impossible? bk ---- wwjd 08/12/06 08:12:27 Re: re: what veggie won't you eat~ Rachael - Celery I just love " Ants on a Log " For those of you that haven't heard about what this is, here you go.. Take a piece of celery, trim off the ends and wash. Then fill the channel with peanut butter. Add your " ANTs " which are raisins all along the channel, pressing down lightly into the Peanut Butter. BTW, maybe one reason you developed a dislike for celery is because you got a hold of some of the very strong flavored kinds. Here is a tip on picking great mild celery. Look at the celery from the top of the stalk. If it is thick, it will have a much better flavor than if it is very thin on each stalk. Next look for a light green color. The darker the green the more intense and offensive the taste it will have. I won't buy thin stalks or dark green celery. I love light green plump celery.. I have read that it wasn't watered enough when it was growing, when it is to thin and dark. This would cause it to have that stronger flavor that many don't care for. Fresh, salt, seed, just too much to bear. I do cook with it, the kids don't mind it and I'm trying to keep them on the veggie path, so sometimes I grin and bear it. Do not put it in a salad, or I'll be making faces and picking it out. AmyF
