Guest guest
Val, I have never been on a diet one day in my life, I can't do it. The key is moderation and knowing what you need to work on. By the way I have 2 vegan friends and they are both extremely over weight so it's really just finding out your weakness. I have an incredible sweet tooth. I make a loaf of sweet bread and I slice it in many slices and I wrap each one and freeze them. I eat a slice each day. I drink a lot of water and sun tea. I love Coke but I never had a big Coke habit so I will Mon thru Fri take a can to work and drink one 1/2 can with lunch and throw the other half away. I have little room for failure with this pattern. If I quit all sugar I will go off on a bunge and I can eat 2 lbs. of hard candy in one sitting. I will post my apricot sweet bread later, it makes one 8 1/2 in loaf and one 7 inch loaf and the whole recipe has 3 tablespoons of butter so I think a slice of that a day is much better than a candy bar. Everyone has different tastes. My nephew has a weakness for cheese grated all over everything so he uses a sprinkle of parmesan instead and he's lost a lot of weight, he's very thin now and has energy. Sissy (sister) has to stay away from chocolate and rich Starbuck drinks with cream and all those toppings. Mya (niece) has to watch olive oil dressings, she will dip a whole loaf of Italian bread in flavored olive oils and use rich dressings on her salads and steamed vegetables so she measures everything out and places limits on the amouth she eats. Hope this hepls some and don't get down on yourself, it takes time to rearrange your eating habits but you can do it. Love and accept yourself no matter what size you are. If you ever tried as hard as I have to help an anorexic you would see what I mean. I appreciate my big butt. Guest guest
Thank you so much for the support and advice, it all helps. I have three things that I have to deal with on a daily bases and trying to eat the right things is hard but I am going to do it because I am just not happy. I suffer with migraines, IBS, and I am hypoglycemic! I know what a combo right! I think that it will help having this group to talk to about it when I get down about it. I have received so much advice, that it makes me want to cry. So many people care and we have never met face to face that is. Guest guest
Val-if you cry then it's natures way of washing out your eyes. I have had migraines since age 13 and severe colitis since age 15 and I've been an insomniac all my life. Being a vegetarian has almost cured but it's never actually completely cured since there is no cure, the colitis. Migraines are 75% better and I'm still an insomniac...
