I didn't know either - I just got an email from them announcing it.
Guest guest
Thanks, Amy. No better way to get ones point across then through comedy. This was hilarious - Mr. Hamderson, Moopheous. Yet very educational at the same time. What they fed the calves and the de-tailing. That is just very sad and disgusting. Does anyone ever wonder if the workers at these plants or facilities actually consume said products? Guest guest
It isn't any better for the layer hen or the milk cow either. No wonder I am a vegan. I think that the workers become so desensitized that they don't put together that piece of meat on their plates and the animal it represents. Or maybe it is the other way around...they were never the sensitive type and so can do these jobs without compunction. I know that one of the highest turnover rates for employment is in the slaughter house. That is why now it is mostly new immigrants and possibly illegal aliens that take care of that for us. There is also a high rate, higher than normal by far, of slaughter house workers taking the violence home to their families if you get my drift. I put into the Feral book file a long time ago a book solely on the slaughter house issue...I think Slaughter House is in the title. There are also a lot of other good books referenced in that file that anyone can access. One book that is a well rounded resource is called " Dominion. " I learned about things I had never heard of such as canned hunts. linda " subprong " <subprong > Thanks, Amy. No better way to get ones point across then through > comedy. I thought that movie was done really well to send a message. It wasn't exactly graphic but I thought it really hit home in showing that the animals were not only used but abused. It's like these animals were put on a production line as if they were a product (which indeed they are but you don't see that when it's nicely packaged in saran wrap with a diaper soaking up all of the " juices " in the deli department - or in a plastic container in a refrigerator section). So what is up with " to be continued " ? I think that the workers become so desensitized that they don't > put > together that piece of meat on their plates and the animal it represents. > Or > maybe it is the other way around...they were never the sensitive type and > so > can do these jobs without compunction. I think it could very well be that some of the workers (I'm using that term loosely) that are already a bit violent are the ones that don't mind staying on. I've seen a few real clips of guys just going nuts on the poor animals. They are trying to move a crammed bunch of animals from one place to another. These animals can only move so fast because there are so many and these idiots are just whacking them left and right with this brutal and scary tone and look about them. I have this one image that I saw on tv several several years ago - I hadn't remembered it until this discussion. It is just scary and ironic that we say that the " animals " are being beaten when really it is the animals doing the beatings. Nuts!
