Do you grow herbs?

Yes

If so,how do you harvest and preserve them?

My wife and I use the culinary herbs

as needed. In other words we walk outside

pick some basil or thyme or sage or rosemary

..... and add it to whatever is cooking.

I dry some herbs. I dry white sage, mullein,

wild dagga, Mexican Tarragon, hops and a few

other herbs.

Do you grow/use medicinal herbs?

Yes, comfrey, feverfew, allheal and quite

a few others. Of course many herbs that

are considered culinary also have medicinal

uses.

I don't use them too extensively although

I have tons of books and even glassware to

do steam distillation, etc. It's just a

matter of time. However I really like just

growing them. Let's see, a few others I grow

include witch hazel, tea tree, stinging nettle,

tansy, hyssop, evening primrose, joe pye weed,

lemon verbena, quite a variety of sages, belladonna,

hemlock (well, the current one has died and I must

go gather some seeds), orris, chicory, ephedra,

datura (no plans to actually use this one),

monkshood, mugwort, motherwort (I think there

is still some surviving), wood betony, ayuhuasca,

black lovage and lovage, goldenrod, chives, valerian,

vervain and others I don't remember at the moment.

Many of my mints and a bay laurel have done really

badly this year and I don't know why. I must figure

that out.
