Guest guest
This sounds so good! i am going to make this either tonight or tomorrow. i just have a few questions. Do you think a medium-dark beer would work well? What was is in the flavor of Heineken that you suspect made the bread have a funky flavor quality; i want to avoid that. One of my favorite restaurant-pub hang-outs here in town serve a wonderful ale bread. Their recipe seems to have a slight citrus note, so i am thinking they probably use a bit of grated orange peel to the recipe.... might try that when i make this bread. Will probably use Fat Tire Amber Ale... Guest guest
hi pt, a medium amber ale would be perfect. the skunky taste of heineken really came through in the bread and i didn't care for it much (i don't really like heineken anyway). oh, i think the orange zest would be wonderful because the bread is kinda sweet. let me know how it turns out and if y'all like it. --- ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: > This sounds so good! i am going to make this either > tonight > or tomorrow. i just have a few questions. > Do you think a medium-dark beer would work well? > What was is in the flavor of Heineken that you > suspect made > the bread have a funky flavor quality; i want to > avoid that. > One of my favorite restaurant-pub hang-outs here in > town > serve a wonderful ale bread. Guest guest
Thanks Susie. i will definitely let you know how it turns out. This pub always serves the ale bread with their dinners, but i also think it is sweet like a dessert quick bread, so i save the bread and bring it home for breakfast. Now i have to go buy more beer! i drank my last bottle last night watching the olympics! *lol* ~ pt ~ There are truths that are not for all men, nor for all occasions. - Voltaire [Francois-Marie Arouet] (1694-1778) ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x wrote: > > hi pt, > > a medium amber ale would be perfect. > the skunky taste of heineken really came through in > the bread and i didn't care for it much (i don't > really like heineken anyway). oh, i think the orange > zest would be wonderful because the bread is kinda > sweet. let me know how it turns out and if y'all like > it.
