Guest guest
Hi Susanne, You actually reminded me of something. An Asian market over here has tons of vegetarian items (in particular unmeat products). Many are actually located in the freezer section. There were a couple of shelves dedicated to these big logs (or clear tubes) of unmeats. There were several different flavorings (by that I mean such as chicken and what not). The bigger tubes were around $15. They also had some amazing other products like this. They had this analog of haddock. It actually looked like a sliced fillets of fish but still put together. I don't mean to be graphic but this is how it was packaged. Anyway, I had taken pics and completely forgot until I read your post. Guest guest
Wow, fascinating! Thanks for posting the pics. The Lotus Garden, the all-vegan Chinese restaurant where Linda and I like to eat, uses a lot of analogs. My favorites are the " shrimp " and the " nuggets " (rather like pork balls) that are deep-fried, then the nuggets are served in a sweet and sour sauce with pineapple and green peppers. The tempura " shrimp " are deepfried as appetizers and served with the traditional hot mustard sauce. My dh (not vegetarian) adores these as well. I'm practically sure the chef buys them already made from somewhere, then deepfries them. Sure wish I could find them in a market, since we're about 20 miles from the restaurant and don't get to eat there often.
