Guest guest
Hi Lynn, Welcome to the group!! So glad youmade it here! I have responded to your post below in between the lines ) I have belonged to another group, the SBD vegetarian group, but it was dead except for spam for the last year at least. Then someone from this board posted to it saying what a great board this was, so I had to check it out! And many thanks to the poster who did that, I'm terribly sorry, don't recall the name. I am a 13 year lacto-ovo vegetarian - because of animal rights issues, environmental issues, health issues... OK, I've been reading vegetarian times for a long time, the longer I do, the more reasons I have. Should be a vegan, for all that I would like to believe in, but it would be too hard to go that far, as I am the only one in my social set that is even veggie. Plus, at this point in my life, I think I could never give up cheese, but who knows, 14 years ago I said I could never give up beef. I hear ya Lynn! In fact, well, I am 1 1/2 years a vegetarian, like I always say, I know people in this group probably get sick of hearing it, I became a vegetarian for spiritual reasons, then it became an issue for health reasons, and now it is just to piss everybody off. Seriously though, I know what you mean about you would rather be vegan but it would be too hard to go that far, me too. I love cheese just too much. I would really like to practice eating habit the way the Jainism Buddhists do, and only eat the part of the plant that does not kill the plant, but for this I would have to give up garlic and onions, yeah .... like that is really going to happen. I didn't select the right email preference upon joining this group, so I was OVERWHELMED at the volume of email, but I scanned each one!! It's nice to see this is an ACTIVE board, and not just with spam!! We re very careful with spam here. Very little if any gets by our wonderful moderators. I am a soup/stew lover, and I saw that there was some mention of the vegetarian slow cooker cook book. I would like some feedback on that from someone who has used it a bit. I don't know about the book, but I just made a stew recipe in my slow cooker and it was such a hit that the non vegetarians in my house forgot that it had no m & #t in it! LOL It is in the recipe files, I forget what I named it, no wait, I remember it was crockpot stew, but then my spell checker insisted we change it to crackpot stew, so either one is fine. anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself. I may not post much, but you can believe I'll be lurking.... well lurk on sista! but do throw us a recipe everynow and then! hugs, Chanda Lynn Version: 7.1.405 / Virus Database: 268.11.6/428 - Release 8/25/2006
