1. Above all, research the nutritional aspects!...B12 and where to

get

it,Vitamin D and where to avoid it...The biggest pitfall as a veggie

is

to go and get sick and have ppl standing over your sick bed wagging

their fingers and chanting " see you have to eat dead animals in order

to be healthy " ! IT'S NOT TRUE, but learning to be a healthy

vegetarian

DOES takes some knowledge if you really want to succeed!!

2. Read all labels to avoid being grossed out later: in the U.S. the

labeling laws are good, but you have to be able to identify trade

names

that contain hidden animal products such as gelatin, ablumen,

rennet...and others which may or may not be animal such as glycerin,

vit D, vit A... and still others that often slip under the radar such

as carmine and confectionary glaze (both derived from dead insects).

3. Make sure you don't gain weight by eating lots of sugar and white

flour products to compensate cravings! If you get uncomfortable with

your body, you won't be a happy veggie. Eat whole grains and fruits

instead...and it's a good idea to avoid all alcohol products as

well...giving up alcohol will help stabilize your blood sugar too.

4. Don't take yourself too seriously! I know ppl can hurt your

feelings

by calling you out as a veggie...but you will be happy within

yourself,

so don't let anyone bring you down! At the same time don't think

that

just because YOU have discovered this wonderful lifestyle that you

can

change others... some will want to join you, but most will just run

from you...in any event don't let them rock you. :)
