Guest guest
Totally off topic here but two dogs in PA, (warminster area) really need help desperately. Please read below and if anyone in that area can help or might know someone, please crosspost. Thanks so much. Please also see photo attached Cheryl =======================----- =================================== Hi Cheryl I'm sending this message to you because I know you have a large network of dog lovers...this is a desperate plea!!! Please pass it along to anyone you think may be able to help. These girls are very special and deserve to live out their golden years with dignity and love Thanks! --Kathryn ****************Forwarded message *********************************** Hello MaPaw group. I'm Laura, a friend of Kathy and Pat's, Kathryn and Stacie and I've been an honorary member of MaPaw for years through helping to rescue sibes (and shepherds, cockers, Labs... did I cover it Kathy?) I have a story to share about 2 dogs that desperately need help. No, they are not sibes, but they are special beyond words... I am a volunteer at the shelter in Allentown, PA and 3 years ago a pure German Shepherd named Sheba and her " sister " Cassie, a pure Cocker Spaniel, were dumped at the shelter after their owner passed away. These 2 dogs were cared for well by their previous owner and the fact that they were just thrown away by family was unimagineable. Add to that a doggie bond between the 2 that I've never seen before. Sheba would not leave Cassie's side. Well, Stacie and I decided to pull them on our own, we kenneled them, got them vet care and we were very, very fortunate to place them with a single woman in Delaware. Prayers were answered. Single woman, owned her house and her previous dog had passed away after a bought with cancer. Happy ending... this is until Stacie was contacted 1 week ago by their adopter. Their adopter is accepting a job in England and is flying out next Wed. Apparently this happened very quickly thus why we did not get any notice. Stacie and I are both heartbroken as we worked very hard emotionally the first time around and can't believe this is happening. Their adopter is holding on to both of them until early next week when difficult and unfair decisions will need to be made if a home or foster cannot be found. Cassie the cocker has a possible backup option for a home; however the woman feels strongly about them going together as she believes Sheba will die of a broken heart if separated from Cassie. If nothing comes forth for these 2 girls, Cassie will be placed with someone and Sheba will be put to sleep. Kenneling is not an option. We have til Monday or Tues. to really figure something out. These girls are SENIORS and need retirement. Whoever takes them will have 2 great, wonderful companions or fosters. Unless a miracle of a home came forth, a foster home would probably be offering hospice to Sheba and fostering for Cassie until Sheba passes, keeping these 2 soul sisters together as long as possible. The perfect foster home would not have too many fosters/pets only because a very active household might stress out Sheba but 2 or 3 dogs and cats or less would probably be fine. The photo that is attached is how they looked 3 years ago when we rescued them... age has set in since... The following is their descriptions: SHEBA: Pure German Shepherd girl, a real lady, regal and gentle; She is aged between 11 and 12 years, she has been battling a common Shepherd eye ailment that has left her 80% blind. She sees far away but has trouble with things close up but compensates very well, she has weak hips as old shepherds do and her hip sockets are at their limit although she can still do stairs... slowly. She is sensitive to the touch as her old bones don't like to be picked up or roughhoused but she still welcomes and soaks in that gentle touch and kiss on the head. She is strongly bonded to Cassie. Needs to be with Cassie. When walking into or out of the house, will look behind her with her cloudy old eyes to make sure her soulmate is behind her. Amazing resume... good with children, good with dogs, good with cats, house-trained and spayed. CASSIE: Pure Cocker Spaniel girl, too cute for words, her tail goes an mile a minute even if you just glance her way; She is aged the same as Sheba. When we rescued her 3 years ago, Stacie and I took her to Univ. of Penn and found she had a slight heart murmur which has not caused her any problems and has not seemed to progress over the last 3 years... same old Cassie. Nothing but sweet, happy-go-lucky goofy all the time. Nothing really phases her. Same great resume... good with children, good with dogs, good with cats, house-trained and spayed. We are looking for help. Can anyone help? Does anyone know someone who can? They lost their original owner, lost their new adopter who we are still thankful for because she provided them a great home for 3 more years together. They can't lose each other now. We don't want Sheba to die because time ran out. These girls have found angels along the way and need just one more to see them to the end. They will be located in the Warminster area through the beginning of next week. Again... we need an option by this weekend... early Monday or Tues. at absolute latest. Thanks for taking the time to read this plea. IF ANYONE CAN HELP, PLEASE CONTACT KATHY R. OR MYSELF AT LAURALY. You guys are an amazing group and posting this can only bring us hope in a hopeless feeling situation. I feel good at least trying. We have contacted Mid-Atlantic Shepherd Rescue and GSD Rescue of SE PA and have had no luck due to a full house on Mid-Atlantic's part and no response from SE. THANK YOU ALL. Guest guest
Cheryl, Would donations buy Sheba a little more time and a chance to be adopted with Cassie??
