pt,

Talofa (but you were close)! Yes, food is a main part of every

Samoan gathering I've ever been to and the food is always delicious.

Unfortunately, alot of it includes meat or fish, so you can imagine

how it went over when my husband tried to explain our desire to eat

a vegan diet to his mom and dad!! LOL (Once, dh went out to eat with

his parents and he ordered a portobello mushroom burger and his dad

got all upset thinking the restaurant messed up his order because

they forgot the meat!)

We always eat whatever we are served when we are with his family

because to do otherwise would be an insult and could cause problems.

If I have a choice, I choose veggie options, and I explain my

reasons if asked, but alot of the time there is no choice. :)

Thankfully, palusami is already vegan and is a favorite of everyone.

It's actually supposed to be made with coconut cream instead of milk

to be more authentic but the coco milk version is a little better

for you. Let me know if you try it. Another of my favorites is

pankeke, dough made with flour, coco milk, and pineapple or jam

inside, rolled into balls and deep fried! Yum! not healthy but yum!
