Guest guest
Hi, I just joined after my annual physical yesterday. My doctor has changed his position on diet somewhat from last year, when he advocated pretty much a Mediterranean diet. Now he's suggesting a strictly vegetarian diet, primarily as a means of fighting cholesterol. Makes sense: no animal products, no cholesterol. So I'm interested in substantial, flavorful recipes. (I was actually a vegetarian many years ago in the late 1970's/early 1980's, primarily on the basis of the Frances Moore Lappé " Diet for a Small Planet " philosophy that it's more efficient and easier on the planet to get protein from its original plant source, rather than what it takes to generate the same amount of protein from an animal source.) One question: is it appropriate to ask questions about things like the best recent vegetarian cookbook for certain kinds of cooking? Or is there another group where that kind of discussion takes place? Thanks much, Mike
