Guest guest
I just wanted say something in defense of the vegetarian who was eating the non-vegetarian starburst candy. She might of been new to being a vegetarian and didn't know any better. When I first became a vegetarian at age 13 or 14, I had no clue that gelatin was from animal bones and skin. I only found out two years later, through an article in the Veggie Life magazine for vegetarians. In fact, every day I learn about new secretly hidden meat ingredients. I had no idea that a dough conditioner in bread was from meat sources until last year. I only buy cheese from companies that use fungi instead of rennet (Publix, Cabot, and a few others do have vegetarian cheeses). I'm an ova/lacto vegetarian. I use eggs from my own female golden laced cochin chickens (who are very spoiled with their own good sized chicken coop with a protected rafting area and plenty of crickets, chickweed, and blackberries to eat). So maybe you should just give any vegetarians you see eating non-vegetarian food a little hint that it's not vegetarian and why it isn't vegetarian. I also understand about some people thinking chicken or fish is vegetarian. My mother's husband is nice but still thinks that vegetarians eat fish, too.
