Guest guest
I don't miss bacon. I was never that fond of it. But, I miss hot dogs. Not that I ever had them that much, but every so often I want a hot dog with lots of onions and mustard and relish. Now I know if I put a faux hot dog on the grill and pile it with all the rest of the stuff, I will probably love it. Another thing I miss is Crystal Hamburgers....of which I could eat about 7. I don't think there is faux Crystal. Have you tried it?? I found it yesterday at Trader Joes, and have not tried it yet, but I bought some. I will try and remember to mention how it is, once I open it. I do miss the taste of most pork products, but it really isn't the meat itself, but the seasonings, smoke, etc. The problem I have with most analogs is that they well may be vegetarian, but most are not vegan. http://www.lightlife.com/bacon.html Thia -- === " To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring - these are some of the rewards of the simple life. Guest guest
Meg, have you tried the MorningStar Farms breakfast strips? My daughter and I love those on our vegetarian BLTs. We both missed the smokey flavor of bacon, too. But neither one of us liked the rubbery texture that bacon often had from the fat part; we didn't like the calories or other bad stuff about bacon either. Those MSF strips cook up fast in the microwave or on the stove top in a pan, and they are all crisp and perfect, no rubbery texture or strange aftertaste. ~ PT ~ All among the barley, Who would not be blithe, While the ripe and bearded barley Is smiling on the scythe? ~ anon., " The Ripe and Bearded Barley " ~~~*~~~*~~~> , Meg <itszen4me wrote: > > I've never heard of Lightlife (or Trader Joe's until yesterday). > I tried Yves bacon and I didnt like it, I really haven't liked > anything yves that I've tried though. > > I half wonder if finding a veg bacon I like would actually harm me > though, make me want to go back to the dark side of life, LOL. > > Meg
