Guest guest
Hi, I'm Andrea. I'm a 27 year old computer programmer living in a Boston suburb. My online name Kyrene is a reflection of my religion (Greek polytheism). I've been borderline vegetarian for a while because it was the only thing that allowed me to stop the very nasty symptoms of IBS-C. After doing an elimination diet, I determined that meat and dairy were perpetual problems for me, poultry was also iffy, and fish can even cause me issues if I eat too much of it (and my body has odd ideas on what's too much). So I went ovo-pescatarian for a month, and recently switched to total vegetarianism, eggs only. I suspect that some super strong antibiotics that I took years ago right before I started having these digestive problems are the reasons behind my inability to handle animal protein, as I was totally fine before that and the differences afterwards were obvious and drastic. On the whole, it seems that my body is happier being vegetarian, and as I was already concerned with what goes into my body, eating mostly organic and whatnot, this switch makes a lot more sense for me. So, I'm here to continue to learn how to live like this, especially living without dairy. I rather envy those who can have dairy. I very much miss cheese, but I do not miss my body's reaction to it.
