Guest guest
Hello! I joined and then life got busy and I haven't been able to read any posts. So first " hello " and this looks like a great group! I just heard a trick about moths on Walter Reeves radio show. (Georgia gardener expert). He said --- to take all the item out of the cabinet --- inspecting each as you do so. Throw out the ones that have moth evidence (of course). Inspect canned food for signs of cocoons and also check lids of things like mayo, pickles, etc. (cocoon will be near where you would unscrew). Then --- put all items that moths are attracted to (flour, cereal, noodles, etc, etc, etc) into ziploc bags (he said to buy a lot of them so you'll have enough before you start!) ---- you put the whole box into it - so you want the biggest sizes you can find!) Then wait about a week and you will see where you infestation is. Throw these items out --- and remaining items will be safe inside the bags! Hope this helps! Cat Awesome! Thank you so much for this info. I will probably order one sinceI getso sick of throwing away our food because of these pests. Seems every time I rid of them, a new one will fly in the house when we open the screen door! They must love our house! *lol* Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! Guest guest
This is a great idea, Cat. When I buy flour now it goes straight into a ziploc bag and carefully sealed. Then those bags go into a lock and lock container. I make a lot of bread, so I like to have a variety of different flours and there is nothing worse than weighing out your flour and watching it attempt to crawl off the scales - yuck!
