Guest guest
You are absolutely right. It's up to us to try and maintain a meatfree diet. The chefs, cooks, servers are not vegetarian and they don't understand. I rarely eat out, If I do it's a place I trust or I order a plain baked potato or make sure they have a veg burger on the menu. I can't begin to list all the people I have introduced vegetarian dishes to and thery are now vegetarians, because I took the time and patience to offer tastes of my lunch, bring vegetarian dishes to parties and potlucks, lend vegetarian books to them, etc. I've had plenty of non-vegetarians pick at me but over the years I have noticed the ones that have made the most fun have been the ones to end up vegetarian in the long run. I know its frustrating when you're out and dont get a vegetarian meal when you ask for one... but its not generally the servers fault... When i started dating my husband who is lactose intolerant, i was *positive* i hadnt cooked with dariy, until i realized (after he got a violent stomach ache) that there was milk in the biscuts i had prepared.. it certainly wasnt my intention to make him sick... I guess my point is just that our actions and how we respond to people makes a difference.. if you swear at them or are rude it leaves a negative impression, and trying to explain calmly does the opposite... just my two cents.
