calling all soymilk makers

I have a soy milk maker and used to make my own, but was somewhat

scared by the negative soy reports, and so tempered my consumption

a little. I believe fermented soy, like tempeh, is probably best.

And, if you're going to drink soy milk, making your own from

organic, non-GMO beans is the way to go. I used to really like

using the okara (the ground beans left over) mixed with some

nutritional yeast to make quick patties to fry up for sandwiches.

I never did attempt tofu as the plastic press that came with it

seemed kind of cheesey. Tempeh is made from the beans and you

need a special starter. Here is one source:

Hope this helps,

p.s. - I am slowly starting to eat more and more soy again.

At first it was just tempeh, now tofu is " allowed " too. :)

And, the very occasional frozen treat, like Soy Delicious.

But, I do stay away from the faux soy meats.

press and enough stuff to make 240 pounds of tofu with it. :) I have

already figured it up and with the money I save by not having to buy

store bought milk and tofu my milk machine will pay for itsself in

2 months! My kids love chocolate soy milk!!! The greatest thing is

that I have a 50 pound bag of soybeans that was given to me not so

long ago. I never done anything with them because I simply had no

idea what to do with them.

uses for the bean pulp left over after I make the milk. I would love

to hear from others who make their own milk. I have recipes but

would love ones that come from someone I can actually talk with.
