Hi--I've been reading all the posts with interest, as after a lifetime of

collecting and inheriting, I'm trying to rid my pantry and kitchen

storage cabinets of " Ronco " type specials.....never did get the

" bass-o-matic " though... LOL...!

really, this post is halfway in jest and I am mainly just kidding---all

of these suggestions from different folks have sounded very

interesting......the microplaner for making super thin ginger slices and

the juicers and spice grinders are intriguing. The thing that interested

me is the Swiss garlic press where you don't even have to peel your

garlic cloves before pressing them. That would be very useful in my

kitchen as I usually have wet hands when I'm trying to peel the garlic

and the little skins cling to my fingers, and then I'm trying to rub them

off into the compost bucket.

I'm thinking maybe I am a closet kitchen appliance groupie or was it

" slut " ? Actually, most of these useful things I'm trying to find a home

for were given as gifts--like the salad shredder and the grapefruit

slicer....all probably pretty neat in their own way but not really used

in my kitchen. Got to admit some of them were my idea at the moment,

such as the pasta maker. It's still a great machine, and I might use it

again some day. One thing I've used since the early 80's is my trusty

cuisinart. *love* it!

So---put my vote in for the Swiss garlic press!

Paula

I was trying to look for a picture of this Swiss brand. I keep finding this

zlyss brand. I noticed this little tool that comes along with it that you

can plug up all of the holes and push out any excess. Probably makes the

cleanup process tons easier. It's the little things in life...

I don't think I could ever go back to any type of press or anything other

than the Twist. I could list tons of reasons but I'll list the strangest

reason.

The Garlic Twist is smaller, round and clear. It sits in the corner of my

utensil holder - by resting there I do not have a wrestling match trying to

pull it out of the other long handles type of gadgets and utensils such as

those presses, spatulas and such.

Sure that means no more yelling at the spatula and tongs for getting in your

way and lodging the drawer from opening but I'll have to learn to live

without yelling at inanimate objects.
