Here's the updated list of those NGOs who are participating in Japan Dolphin Day. This particular list is limited to those who are actually showing up to protest a Japanese embassy or a Japanese consulate office. Did we forget anyone? Please let us know ASAP as we are designing the Japan Dolphin Day 2007 logo which will be available to anyone on request. The list will be closed on Friday, September 8th. Good news: The German Green Party (Bundestagsfraktion BUENDNIS90/DIE GRUENEN) signed on. They will meet with the Japanese Ambassador in Berlin to file a formal complaint against the annual dolphin slaughter and against mercury contaminated dolphin meat being fed to Japanese school children. A protest will be included IF we can get enough bodies to show up at the Japanese Embassy in Berlin at noon on September 25th. Please let us know if you can help make this happen. The German Green Party is pro-active in the dolphin captivity issue in Germany. They are actively opposing so- called dolphin assisted therapy (DAT). They are also opposing the expansion of the dolphinarium at the Nurnberg Zoo. WDCS Germany and Wal-und Delfinschutz-Forum are also working on these same issues with local NGOs. These Japanese Embassies are most important targets. So far we have: Mexico City, Rome, Bern, Berlin, London, Panama City, Manila, Brussels, Den Haag, Washington D.C. and maybe Costa Rica. -- did we miss an embassy? The Japanese consulate general offices are also important -- let's not forget them. They will have to report our protest to the decision makers in Tokyo too. Guest guest
My Best wishes to all participating. This is quite an impressive list, you will be in my prayers. The Okinawan-American Animal Rescue Society, OAARS, was successful in getting a pitbull breeder on Okinawa, Japan out of business. These dogs probably were also being sold to some that used them for fighting. We are now in the process of turning over information on another breeder, the exposure from the first investigation is already making an impact in the community and there are less ads from breeders on the paper. Best wishes, Liz www.oaars.com Nikki Green <nikkigreen wrote: Linc [lincngo] Friday, September 07, 2007 12:01 AM LINC NGO Fwd: Last call for Japan Dolphin Day Our Hong Kong Protest is currently applying for a protest permit on September 25th at 12pm.
