I believe these activities are being conducted at the lab run by the

Southwest Biomedical Research Center/Southwest National Primate

Center. Shirley

Nepal Biomedical Research Centre has sought permission

from the government to undertake scientific test on DNA of

monkeys. NBRC has submitted an application to DNPWC to

take samples of blood from Rhesus Macaques to USA for

further study. Prabesh Man Shrestha, Director of the research

centre states that since Nepal does not have latest scientific

tools, the blood samples are being prepared to sent to US

for the study.

NBRC in partnership with Southeast Foundation Research

Centre also runs monkey breeding centre in Lele, Lalitpur. At

present, the centre has 99 monkeys and 46 have been bred

in captivity. The bred monkeys are being prepared to undergo

various medical tests to find cure for human diseases.
