Her crippling multiple fractures cannot be fixed. The elephant has been sitting down and immobile for over ten days now. Five days ago, after assessing her conditions, doctors had said there is no option but to put her down. The order to administer the lethal injection was given by the chief wildlife warden but the elephant has not been put out of her misery yet. Since the order, there have been protests by NGO People For Animals questioning the merit of that order because they allege that no experts were brought in to check the elephant out. But even they now agree that the condition of the elephant is so bad that she has to be put down. ''We have been shouting here for days, nothing has been done. The situation has worsened. What is the alternative now except to relieve her of all her miseries. ''Anyways, with euthanasia not taking place she is not being given VIP treatment. She is not even being given pain killers, we know coz we are there with her all day,'' said Pooja, President, People for Animals. The administration however seems to be doing nothing about this and it's going to be one more day of tremendous pain and misery for the elephant. -- Fight captive Jumbo abuse, end Elephant Polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com
