Let this be an eye-opener to all the arrogant and law-evading municipal

officials of Kerala where stray dogs were rounded up and butchered with

impunity.

The first class judicial magistrate of Peermade in Idukki district has asked

the police to register cases against the Panchayat Secretary and the dog

catcher- of Vandipperyar Panchayat -who were the first and the second

accused in the case where 3510 stray dogs were given lethal injections and

slaughtered.

The Idukki SPCA after receiving the required informations through the Right

of Information Act filed the case and got the orders from the court.

The court on special request from Idukki SPCA has asked the police to

consider the 3510 crimes not as a single one but register 3510 separate

cases.

This is the first time in the history of Kerala that a judicial Court orders

action against panchayat officials for killing stray dogs.

The most important aspect of this case is that now the Municipal/Panchayat

heads are a worried lot and at least a couple of thousand of dog's lives

are saved-for the time being.
