October 10, 2007, A Complaint to AWBI

*SUBJECT : Enquiring to know the role of AWBI in the ongoing indiscriminate

and barbaric killing of **Dogs in Kerala; Turtle & Rabbit farming. *

 

Dear Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. R.M.Kharb,

 

A shocking revelation has come to us after reading this article :

According to this article the AWBI , AHD and Trivandrum Corporation have had

rounds of meetings to encourage the ABC program under a scheme called

" Suraksha " .

This is absolutely shocking as we do not know how AWBI can even

*negotiate*under and with some scheme which aims to kill dogs.

 

To clarify our belief, let me attach a few *article which prooves that

Trivandrum Corporation's scheme called Suraksha is a killer program for

street dogs in disguise.*

Please read the attached articles which clearly state that around *80 % dogs

were unhealthy dogs and were given mercy killing*. In the same article it

mentions that AWBI has their support. If the corporation accepts this

themselves that they have killed more than 80% dogs, and AWBI and AHD are

suporting this scheme, then in a way AWBI is supporting the killing

program. *We* *can not understand how has AWBI, Trivandrum corporation or

AHD been able to diaganose 80% dogs to be unhealthy and to be put to sleep,

without either having the adequate staff or means of establishing the same *.

 

We have reason and proof to believe that the claim of euthanising 80% dogs

is absolutely false, as the pictures and video proof taken shows that pups,

healthy, vaccinated and sterilised dogs were killed openly and burried along

the roadside by the Trivandrum corporation people. It is indicriminate

killing going on there till date.

All this in the name of SURAKSHA program, which AWBI supports ?

 

Please explain that why is AWBI supporting Suraksha scheme, when it is

nothing but an EYEWASH and a killing program in the name of Welfare. If on

one hand Trivandrum corporation is arranging for hospitals and ambulances to

show they care about dogs then on the *other hand they are mercilessly

killing dogs on the streets and accepting it too. *

*In this scenario we would request AWBI, not to support or even consider

giving support and grant to a corporation which aims at killing, till they

stop this barbaric misuse of State Laws which gives them ownership rights on

street dogs. **We appeal to you to kindly stop all grants, payments and

associations with the corporation till we are assured that no dogs are being

killed. *

 

We had filed an RTI with you asking the same in which you had very clearly

denied any involvement of AWBI in any killing program whatsoever. You had

also asked us to submit the baseless proofs which prooves the involvement of

AWBI in any of this killing, so you may take legal action against the people

and agencies falsely putting the blame on you. *We hereby submit the

articles and the proofs that have caused us great concern in this

regard.*The proofs are not new and have been submitted time and again

to you much

before March 2007 via many people.

*Kindly go through the articles attached, pictures/ videos at the links

provided and give us assurance that all the information is false and that

AWBI is not supporting* -

a) Dog killings

b) Rabbit farming

c) Turtle farming

*and that you will take swift action against the newspapers falsely

reporting the same and keep us updated.* *Alternatively, if the newspaper

reportings are correct then kindly let us know what action you plan to take

against the offenders in your department. *

Also enclosed is an email received yesterday which supports our claim that

dogs are being killed till date. please read extracts as follows :

Save dogs in TechnoPark, Trivandrum

Today i witnessed a brutal incident at the TechnoPark

premise.There were dogcatchers around killing and dumping dead

dogs.Icouldn't withstand such a coldblooded

brutality.When asked, they said they have permission from the

government.Ifthis true, please

do the neeful soon.
